Theresa May trade delegation to Nigeria
Delighted that Theresa May will lead a trade delegation to Nigeria this week, describing it as a “unique opportunity at a unique time for the UK.” She said: “Now is the time for the UK to deepen and strengthen its global partnerships.” Adding that ”Africa stands right on the cusp of playing a transformative role in the global economy.”
The prime minister and her delegation meet the Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja before heading to Lagos. The other two Commonwealth countries that she will visit are South Africa and Kenya.
Theresa May concluded a “prosperous, growing and trading Africa” was “in all of our interests”, adding the continent’s “incredible potential will only be realised through a concerted partnership between governments, global institutions and business.” On 5–9 October, another British delegation will be visiting Nigeria.
Heads and senior leaders from 20 boarding schools will develop partnerships and meet families at events in Lagos and Abuja organised by Mark Brooks Education and Anderson Education, including a reception at the British Deputy High Commissioner’s residence.
It’s exciting to see these initiatives, which will benefit a generation of young people who have remarkable energy, talent, initiative and potential.
